Movie Maniac's Picks and Pans: Law Abiding Citizen, The Stepfather
By Craig Peters on October 16, 2009

It's been done; perhaps once too often. The plot for The Stepfather: a woman marries a dangerous man and her young son/daughter/neighbor or friend has to stop him. This particular version stars Penn Badgley and Dylan Walsh. It seems a rehash of many a bad thriller (and Shakespeare's Hamlet). Let's get over this and come up with something a little more original. The only facet of the film that would interest me is if the son was crazy and he was the bad guy... here's hoping!

With great plot, great story elements and two really dynamic personalities, Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx, Law Abiding Citizen looks to be the box office winner and a must see for the weekend. Butler's character wants revenge and will do anything to get it and Foxx is the Fed bent on stopping him. Sound good? Yep, does to me too.
