Hugh Jackman Passes on Oscars
By Jamey Giddens on October 30, 2009

Sorry awards show fans, Hugh Jackman has opted out of hosting the 82nd Annual Academy Awards next year, sources tell Variety. Reportedly, The Man Who Would Be Wolverine passed on the gig because he didn't want to host the show two years in a row. Jackman could, however decide to host again in the future. That sound you hear is Neil Patrick Harris practicing his soft shoe tap.

I am not a big fan of NPH. He hosted the Emmy's recently and they sucked. If Hugh Jackman is not going to host then I would like to see one of the following people host....
Steve Martin
Billy Crystal
George Clooney
Ellen Degeneres
Tom Hanks
Tom Cruise
Shia Lebouf
Ben Stiller
Robert Downey Jr.

No Hugh Jackman?? Well...they have to bring a really good host to get me to tune in next time.

Lost, oh my god. The only name on your list that would bring an audience is Downey Jr.The rest are so boring. Perhaps a Bill Murray, Russell Crowe or Matt Damon might be a pleasant change. For completely different reasons. Oh, or maybe Dan Akroyd, wouldnt that be a trip.

Craig...
Both Steve Martin and Billy Crystal have hosted previously and both were pretty good. I think Downey Jr. would be the perfect pick especially since he has Iron Man 2 coming out but he might be a bit too risky for the Academy. I think that both Stiller and Lebouf are quite funny and would do a good job. The only reason I threw in Hanks, Cruise, and Clooney is because they represent Hollywood in a way that other hosts in the last few years haven't been able to (Ellen, Jon Stewart).
Just read an article on IMDB that says both Downey and Stiller turned down the opportunity to host.

Yechhh! Not me. I'll watch of course but they are so retro. Been there, done that. Time for new blood (deliberately cliche).

Craig
I think just because you have no expectations you just might be surprised.
The only thing that scares me is that I haven't seen many movies this year (so far) that I would want nominated for any of the major categories. This year they are going back to nominating 10 movies for best picture rather than five so it will be very interesting to see which 10 actually get nominated.
I think the only movies I can think of so far that should get nominated for best picture are Inglorious Basterds, (500) Days of Summer and The Hurt Locker.
Craig, I'm interested who you would want to host if you got to pick.
