Legion: Misleading Title, Great Action

Though very much a challenge of humanity’s understanding of God, Legion is a good action film. Starring Paul Bettany (A Knight’s Tale) in a brilliant performance as the angel Michael. With Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, Charles Dutton and Lucas Black as mostly supporting cast members, Legion manages to both thrill and challenge while never really reaching its promise.

Paul Bettany is the Archangel Michael, instructed by God to destroy the unborn child destined to lead the world out of darkness, a darkness so profound that even God has lost faith. Michael refuses and takes up arms; his only purpose to find the child and defend him against the armies of heaven. Oddly, the armies of heaven consist of hordes of malformed demon-like angels, think George Romero only more attractive, and the angels are easily destroyed by heavy weaponry. READ MORE

The Back-up Plan Official Trailer

Check out the trailer for Jennifer Lopez's new film. It actually appears to be a funny, well thought out and marginally original idea. Lopez finds a new beau only to discover she's pregnant, not his baby but now his concern. Lopez looks her usual gorgeous self but more, she actually looks like she's acting. I'm thinking The Back-up Plan may be a Jennifer Lopez film to see. The trailer is after the break. READ MORE

A Frightening Look at the New Repo Men Trailer!

The future is frightening, at least according to Repo Men. In the bizarre world of Repo Man organs are available for purchase— for a huge price. Defaulting on a contract creates a series of events leading to Jude Law and Forest Whitaker coming to repossess your purchase...violently. The plot is weak but the action strong so if you can stomach the grim nature, Repo Man might be worth seeing. Release date: April 2, 2010. Check out the trailer after the break. READ MORE

One warning: Remo Man looks to be derivative of a film called Repo!: The Genetic Opera and is getting a lot of negative buzz as a result.

The Karate Kid Trailer

An amazingly good trailer and an excellent pick of actors, The Karate Kid looks like it could be surprisingly good. With Jackie Chan stepping in as the "sensei" for Pat Morita and young Jaden Smith as the replacement for Ralph Macchio "the karate kid" I'm excited to see the film. Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan look to have great chemistry. The story is similar, but not identical to the original, and the training scenes look to be almost as much fun as "wax on, wax off."
