Zombieland

Top 25 Greatest Horror Movies

There are few more subjective categories than the Top 25 Greatest Horror Movies. In thinking about my own top 25, and trying to stay objective, I found myself struggling with movies that scared the hell out of me, movies that thrilled me with original horror and even films so disturbing I would never watch them again. Of the ones that were truly great, some gave me great laughs and some made me jump in my seat. One even made me crawl under my seat as a child. Some were so horribly real that they caused me nightmares and heart palpitations. The ones that didn’t will be on someone else’s list.

No. 25: Zombieland

The newest horror film on the list, Zombieland is funny far more than scary, but a great film for all that. This is a megamovie with one great cameo and 90+ minutes of great action. The originality, disgusting violence and unlikely characters make Zombieland one of the best funny scary movies as well. You might want to sneak in some Twinkies, I so wanted one by the end of the film. Take a pen, too. You might want to write down the Zombieland rules before you leave. Ya’ never know. Oh, and start up the cardio, these Zombies are quick. READ MORE

Zombieland: Funnier than Frogs in a Blender!

I absolutely love it when I'm right. Zombieland is blisteringly fast, blastingly violent and belly laughingly funny. Woody Harrelson (Cheers), Jesse Eisenberg (Adventureland), Emma Stone (Superbad) and Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) are as unlikely a group as you will ever find and yet their chemistry is catalytic and the chaos resulting is hilarious. Movie Maniac's Picks and Pans: Zombieland and The Invention of Lying

Comedy bonus weekend coming up! Zombieland and The Invention of Lying, both comedies, both have great trailers and both have great comic lead actors: Woody Harrelson and Ricky Gervais. I want to see you all; be there or be square.

If you haven't seen the trailer you must be living in a mud hut. It's everywhere. Zombie comedies are some of the best horror films and Zombieland is in great company. Films like Night of the Comet, Shaun of the Dead and Return of the Living Dead are hilarious and Zombieland is going to be right there with them. Harrelson is always best when he's funny (check out Anger Management) and this may be his best. READ MORE

Which 2009 Fall Movie Are You Most Excited to See?

Are you looking forward to fall and the holidays? Well, I definitely am, mostly for the great movies saved for the last quarter of the year. I could do without Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's, if it weren't for the time off and the great movies shown then. I really want to know which films you're looking forward to this upcoming season. Looking forward to a movie not listed here? Please share.

Which 2009 Fall movie are you most excited to see?

Trailer: Zombieland

Zombieland stars Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, a zombie-slaying' bad ass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. Aventureland's Jesse Eisenberg stars as Columbus who has made a habit of running from what scares him. When they join forces they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombie. Zombieland seems to have an essence of Shaun Of The Dead and lands in theaters October 9, 2009...just in time for Halloween audiences!
